“Hey hey, my my, rock and roll will never die” – Neil Young
As long as Harrisburg, Pennsylvania based Silverscreen Prom Queen has anything to do with it, rock and roll will never die. Influenced by some of the greatest rock bands of all time such as Led Zeppelin, Stone Temple Pilots, and Guns & Roses, SSPQ brings a return to the days when the music was big, the bands were bigger, and rock was King. Even the band’s name is derived from the classic era. Guitarist Brandon Reece constructed Silverscreen Prom Queen from the lyrics of Van Halen’s 1981 song “Dirty Movies” in an effort to "point the music in the right direction from the get-go". Mixing creative melodies, thought provoking lyrics and powerful music, SSPQ have truly created a sound that is all their own.
After their previous bands dissolved, singer Manian Van Hacker got together with Brandon to jam and immediately realized they were on to something great. Following this jam session, the search was on to form a full band. It didn’t take long until ex-Sugarcoat guitarist Tim White and drummer Sean Sultzbach answered an ad on SSPQ’s official site. Shortly thereafter, Silverscreen Prom Queen was formed.
Consisting of former members of some of the Mid-Atlantic's most notable rock bands (Condition K, Sugarcoat, and Bottled in Bond), Silverscreen Prom Queen is a well-seasoned collaboration. Collectively the members bring with them years of experience as well as many impressive accomplishments such as participating in SXSW in Austin Texas, Jager Meister sponsorship, distribution in FYE stores accompanied by in-store performances, independent label support, regular radio airplay and of course sharing the stage with such notable acts as Bon Jovi, Candlebox, The Used, Shinedown, Fuel, Three Doors Down, Lit, Breaking Benjamin, Dope, Kevin Rudolph, Warrant, Eight Stop Seven, Jackyll, etc. In 2006 Manian was even personally contacted by Fuel guitarist/song-writer Carl Bell to audition for the band after the departure of original frontman Brett Scallions. Though tempted and flattered by the offer, Manian respectfully declined in order to pursue his own personal vision.
Performing alongside their original songs Silverscreen Prom Queen pays homage by covering the greatest songs in the history of rock n’ roll guaranteeing that their live shows will captivate their audience and leave them wanting more.
